The native Lincoln Longwool is considered one of the most important breeds of sheep in the British Isles. Firmly established as a breed in Lincolnshire by the 1750s, it can justly claim parentage of every improved Longwool type in the world.

The Lincoln Longwool is a Category 1 Rare Breed. Less than 500 breeding ewes now exist. While establishing our flock we're buying in small numbers of organic lambs from my brother, Davis Dennis, who farms at Stenigot on the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The Woodlands Flock was started in 2004 with the purchase of 8 pedigree shearling ewes from Mr Frank Martin's Humby Flock. The Woodlands flock is organic and it is closed, meaning that we breed our own animals. Our policy is to maintain a nucleus flock of pure Lincoln Longwools for local/direct sales as well as for breeding.
At Woodlands Farm the highest animal welfare standards are followed. The sheep are raised on pasture which receives no artificial herbicides or fertilizers. To reduce stress a small local abattoir is used. After slaughter the meat is hung for 10 days to provide for maximum flavour.
